WMIK signed on for the first time on Sunday, November
14, 1948 at 2pm. WMIK is one of Kentucky's oldest radio
stations. The Cumberland Gap Broadcasting Company
Incorporated owned WMIK from 1948 until 1992. WMIK is the regional
coverage leader, sales leader, and number one in the market for a vast
majority of years as determined by the ratings company, Arbitron.
The Binghamtown Baptist Church through Gateway
Broadcasting Corporation purchased both stations in
October of 1992. Both stations continue to serve the
Cumberland Gap region twenty four hours a day with a
mixture of local and nationally known ministers, Southern
gospel music, and local programming. The Binghamtown
Baptist Church Sunday morning worship service began
broadcasting in the early 1950's and is one of the nation's
longest consecutively airing church broadcasts.
